sometimes i knit things

a few weeks ago, i got this interesting yarn and my little fingers had been itching to make a scarf with it. sometimes i buy things and they get put away for later use. but the cold weather hit us and i thought: "NOW" ... now is the time to make this scarf. we shall not procrastinate! i'm glad i did.

here's my awesome scarf.

isn't it fun? i love how i can loop it around my neck to make it all fluffy. here's another view:

this scraf is 88 inches long and is knit on 6 stitches only! what makes it so fluffy?

... and it looks like this mesh. you use only the top 2 strands to knit. it makes a beautiful ruffle. the yarn is called "Sashay" by Red Heart Boutique, a Coats & Clark product.

mod marcie meets chap

good tuesday, dear blog friends!

today's card was such a pleasure to put together. mainly because i colored with my copics which i hadn't done in a long while. i created this card for scrapbook centrale and if you're interested, there's a video about it here.

so here's the card:

it's an outer stair step card made with with the new American Crafts's Chap collection. i love, love, love this new collection. the colors and patterns are awesome. the stamp is Mod Marcie from La-La-Land Crafts and i love her so much! she reminds me of my Stuuphie-Stuuph (in case you don't know, that's my daughter). of course, it wouldn't be a CeeCee card without glitter -- she's even got eyeshadow :D

graphic 45 curtain call mini album

good monday everyone.

this post features a mini album made with Graphic 45's Curtain Call collection complete with its tin canister box. it's an interactive album but if i had to make it again by myself (as opposed to in a class), i would ink up the edges :-)

beware: this post is photo intensive.

that's the tin canister all decorated.

i love their metal flowers and big decorative metal brad.

the mini inside is of course round shaped and the kraft base comes with the tin!

each page has an interactive element, wether it's a tag or a flip panel. fun, fun.

this page has 2 tags that pull out from under the eiffel tower image.

 

i love all papers from this collection. they're so vintage and fun.

maybe one day i'll be able to put some pictures of my son playing his beautiful music on a big stage.

halloween? christmas? anybody?

i had a whole bunch of posts scheduled for last november and december but somehow only a few found their way here. so i'm trying to catch up. here are 2 cards i made using Modelling Cream by Viva Decor. i love this stuff. no, i adore it! it goes on smooth and adds a beautiful raised effect to your projects. i usually apply it with a spatula over a stencil.

what i did here is lay down a nice coat of Mother-of-Pearl Modelling Cream over a Crafter's Workshop stencil (#TCW251s Mini Branches Rev). then i added some SU dazzling diamonds glitter over some parts of the trees before the cream had a chance to dry. i wanted to have a silver/white card so i continued in this vein by adding torn pieces of white cardstock at the foot of the trees and layering another coat of modelling cream but this time i speckled it with my spatula and zapped it with my heat tool... instead snow!!! the stuff bubbles up and give such a nice finish. i love it!

you can see the raised effect on the trees and the snow. i added white berries with an Ice White Pearl Pen by Viva Decor also.

then i made another similar card but this time it's a halloween card.

i added a bit of Stampin' Up!'s basic grey re-inker to color the modelling cream. i wanted dark silver trees. the little "danger keep out" sign was an old rub-on from SU as well. i distressed the heck out of it and hung it on the punched fence with a piece of black wire. Fun!

stay positive

although the sun is shining on the snow right now, it's a bit of a gray day in this household today. my husband just got laid off - they actually laid off the whole division so many people are in the same boat. i guess the recession is still going strong and i pray for better news for all the families that are affected by this decision. i choose to remain positive and am confident that it's a sign of something better to come for him.

to counterbalance that, i want to post something shiny!  it is my quirky way of saying "pooey" on the bad mojo :-)

here's another card that i made a while back but never got around to posting it. it is made with the same Glitter Ritz i've been using in my last 2 posts and video but using a different technique.

there are many layers to the butterfly. the shape was die-cut through a layer of cardstock and sookwang tape. then we cut around the body on both side so that we could offset the 2 wings "masks" and apply the brown glitter on both ends. then, we put the wings back into place and uncovered the body to add some brown glitter as well. the next step was to cascade different shades of blue on the wings. uncovering one wing at a time, we laid out some die-cut flourishes and added the 3 different colors of blue glitter. we repeated on the other side. and to finish it off, we removed the flourishes masks and added green. of course, the burnishing process had to be done on all the layers as they were laid down.

it was a "fussy" process but the effect is stunning.

starting the new year with glitter!

there's nothing like a good glitter dose to put me in a good mood. here are 2 cards i made using the images i showed in yesterday's video.

they are so glittery and colorful. i traced the outline of the image with a black Copic marker after i adhered it to the scalloped circle to create contrast. i like it better with than without (as shown below).
