i've created this piece for a commission and it's a bittersweet separation. this was pure indulgence -- from the concept, to the drawing, the painting, the texturizing and shading. i loved it all! the process of this painting was recorded and you can watch the video over at my Patreon page HERE.
i'm back in my studio and it feels good. i just got back from a month in sunny and warm florida, helping out a friend and although i was in very good company and in a beautiful setting, i am happy to be back home and back to a more regular schedule. here are a few paintings i did while i was away.
i apologize for the low-light quality of the photos... it's the best i could do under poor lighting circumstances.
day 9! i'm gonna show you how i colored this page pLUS a couple of crafty ideas with the same coloring page. i hope you'll watch the process video below.

i'm so excited for today's coloring page. who doesn't love cacti ?! especially when they are decked out for christmas. day 6 is a page of ...well SIX images that you can cut out and use for cards, tags, place holders, etc. and if you use a quick coloring method, like i've done in the video below, you can quite a few quick projects at a time.
you could even frame them to decorate your space! i really love them.

a little bird, off balance, desperately wanting to decorate his habitat with an ornament. will he make it? i'd like to think so :-) another watercolor painting treatement for day 7's coloring page. there's a lot of masking that went on to achieve that look.

world peace. a cliché, yes. but nevertheless something that we all wish for. i wanted this page to be rich in color, yet give out a calm vibe. i also used this image to experiment with crisp shadows, something i haven't done much. it's good to get out of your comfort zone. it was a learning experience and i will definitely repeat this style because i've enjoyed it tremendously.

i keep forgetting to update my good old blog. wondering if anybody even reads blogs anymore. nevertheless, here's my latest little painting in a square watercolor journal. this was done out of desperation, of being in a creative funk for a few days. sort of like a reset without any pressure... low and behold the camera was still recording!
here's some photos:
i used Mijello's Mission Gold watercolor paints for this one (payne's grey, greenish yellow, hooker's green, burnt sienna) and Duo Cactus Flower by Daniel Smith. the doodling was done with a Pilot Multiball pen, fine tip. i also added a bit of splatters with white Copic Ink.
using a large brush and bold strokes, i was able to achieve a style that is new to me and that i fell in love with. these flowers were composed very quickly and simply, the watercolor paints were dropped in a bold manner and the finishing touch of outlining with a grey marker helped pull everything together.
you'll find a full list of supplies at the end of this post. i invite you to watch the full process in the video below.
LIST OF SUPPLIES:
field watercolor journal made with FLUID paper (hand book paper co.)
i was flipping through pages of my almost-done watercolor journal and came upon a page that i had left unfinished. at the time i painted the face, i really wasn't happy with it so i let it go. a year later, i decided to revisit it and "fix it". here's how i did it:
sometimes it has to start really badly for it to end on a sweet note. it is true for this painting.
whenever i play with a medium that is not tested for lightfastness, meaning the manufacturer doesn't provide the info on either the packaging, i art in an art journal. this time, it it a Strathmore watercolor 400 series journal and the medium are the wax-based water soluble crayons, Neocolor II's by Caran d'Ache. i do love them a lot but the method of application is a quite different than my beloved watercolor tube paints.
so this started out like a total disaster, like a child had scribbled all over a page. but then i found the sweet spots... the portals, as i call them. below is a video recording my process in real-time with full commentaries. i do hope you will consider watching it because i give out a lot of information about my process. but be warned it is a long one. maybe consider accompanying this with either a glass of wine or your lunch!
here are some high resolution photos:
in the end, it turned out to be a total blast and i encourage you all to find your muse and go with the flow.
i have some exciting news to share. today marks the beginning of my online class -- watercolor carving.
about 6 months ago, i stumbled unto a technique that has gotten me busy and excited. since then, i've been creating non-stop. and don't let the title fool you: the carving is done with a brush -- no knives involved! it's a fun and non-traditional approach to watercoloring that will have you create in whatever style you prefer: realistic, abstract, whimsical, fantastical... wherever your creativity takes you. so if you like to play with colors with a very zen approach, this is for you.
i invite you to click on the photo above to get all the details.
whether you are in a relationship or single, make sure that you love yourself first and others will follow.
this is another one of my printable coloring pages that i painted with watercolors and filmed. click here to download it-->
below is the short version of what my Patreon supporters are getting in their rewards package. to see the full video, you can go visit my Patreon page and chck out all the posts i have on there.
i worked on a Canson mix media artboard and used both Sennelier and Daniel Smith paints.
that poor polar bear got tangled in his string lights. isn't that the predicament that awaits us every Christmas?
for this illustration, i chose to paint with watercolors and shading with color pencils. as per usual, the process was recorded and you can watch it below.
this line art image is available as a downloadable printable coloring page at my Etsy shop. click below to visit it!
interactiv cards are the best! i loved putting together this shaker card with my snow globe printable coloring page. i just had to resize it to fit on a standard 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" card, print it on watercolor paper and color away! for the coloring i use one of my favorites set from Prima Marketing : decadent pies. gold accents were done with Tsukineko's Gold Mica Ink and a dip pen.
the construction of the card is fairly simple if you follow my step-by-step video tutorial below. you'll need just a few basic supplies and the digital printable image which you can find at my ETSY shop, HERE -->
her are some close-up images. click on them for a better look-see!
this little penguin is wishing you all the best of the holidays. this artwork was colored in a watercoloring way with Big Brush Pitt Artist Pens by Faber-Castell. you'll find all the step-by-step in the video below.
if you are interested in coloring along, i have released all 12 sketches in a bundle as coloring pages and you can get them at my ETSY shop here.
here are some high-res pictures. you'll have a better look by clicking on them.
i am so so excited to be presenting you the Twelve Days of Xmas/Winter, à la CeeCee. what that means is that starting today and for the next 11 days, i will be presenting videos of my coloring process of twelve line art i created specifically for this occasion. each of these line art images can be downloaded and colored, perfect for relaxing in this stressful time of year. or better yet, they can easily be resized for card fronts or tags.
this is part of a special reward offered to all my Patreon supporters that are pledging for this month and december. they have been getting early releases of these videos and all the sketches for free. to the non-Patreon friends, the sketches can be purchased HERE.
so here's day 1 : gingerbread forest, a watercolor illustration.

today, i decided to reveal my big secret and the undeniable proof that it totally works.
since i've been getting a lot of good comments on my face drawing/painting lately, i thought i would do a quick post here to show how practice and perseverance pays off. take a look at these 2 photos, side-by-side -- they were done 3 years apart.
there you have! in black and white .... with some color.
thank you for reading and have a lovely and creative day!
it's been a while since i haven't written a post in here. pure laziness on my part. i figured it's easier for me to spend 8 hours filming/editing/posting a video than writing a 5-min blog post... don't ask.
here's my latest watercolor piece i made for some of my awesome Patreon supporters. i used bright bold colors from the Mijello Mission Gold set to brighten up the rainy fall season. this was total indulgence and i loved every minute of it. below is a condensed version of the process video i filmed while working on it.
and a couple of photos:
thank you so much for visiting. if you like this, please share it!
this watercolor painting was done on a mixed media artboard (Canson) which takes rather well to a wet media. i am quite impressed with how it reacts to the paint and the bonus is the lack of warping. i put together this project/video for my patrons over at Patreon and have published a faster version without commentaries on YouTube, which you can watch below:
if you are not following m on instagram, here's a recap of what you may have missed (in no particular order):

it's the end of another week so here's a look at what i've been up to since June 28th in my daily art-before-breakfast practice. don't forgot to follow me on instagram @creationsceecee to get a small dose of daily art.
i had an interesting art-before-breakfast session this morning. it started out as being a very detailed background to being very subtle, choosing to emphasize the main elements instead. this time, i recorded the process so you can watch the sped up video below.
this piece was done with Sennelier's l'Aquarelle paints and inked with a Uni white gel pen. i wanted to give some luminescence and transparency to the mushroom. the little guys on the left might be jellyfish... or not.
good day to you! it's been a while since i've written here. not sure why. i feel people are not reading blogs anymore. and that's not fair to the ones that read my posts so here's a recap in the form of tiles. i started this thing where i make my way into the studio as soon as i get up, before breakfast, and ART. whatever suits my fancy, without the camera turned on (although that might change soon). and i post these to Instagram and push them to my other social media.
so if you are not following me on instagram you can find me under creationsceecee. in the meantime, here is a quick recap for you:
i'm into simple sketching lately because most of my time is spent on business-related things at the moment. at least that way i can squeeze in my daily dose of art. this page is in my strathmore 400 series watercolor journal. the background was first painted with daniel smith's watercolors and the sketching was done with a pentel brush pen. and that's about it!
this canvas makes me so happy! i made this on an art board that measures 8" X 10" using watercolor paint and scraps of painted papers. it's a great way to use up your messy underpapers.
i recorded the process and included a supplies list for my awesome patrons who support my art so if you are curious, you can go and check out my Patreon page HERE. in the meantime, here are some close-up photos:
there's shimmer on some of the hearts...
... .and dimension.
here's similar another project i made but this time the hearts and neutral with text and the background is just colors. i could have made dozens of pages like these. so much fun!
thank you so much for visiting and have a wonderful and creative day!
